This Privacy Policy explains how Major.quest ("Major.quest", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit major.quest or interact with our services. Major.quest is an independent information portal – all nationally recognised training and enrolments are provided by Major Training Group (RTO 6139, ABN 98 057 404 074) through major.edu.au, which has its own separate privacy policy.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Personal Information We Collect

  • Identifiers: Name, email, phone, state/territory, postcode, IP address.
  • Enquiry information: Industry of interest, course type, delivery preference, funding situation, message content.
  • Technical data: Browser, device, pages viewed, cookies, referral URL.
  • Marketing preferences: If you opted in to receive updates.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, criminal record, etc.) unless you provide it voluntarily and it is relevant to your enquiry.

We disclose personal information only where necessary:

  • Service providers that host our site, deliver emails, and provide analytics – under contract.
  • Partner RTO: Major Training Group (via major.edu.au) when you ask us to forward your enquiry or when needed to progress your training pathway.
  • Legal & safety: Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.
  • Business transfers: As part of a merger, acquisition or restructuring, with confidentiality safeguards.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Overseas Disclosure (APP 8)

Some of our service providers (for example, cloud hosting, analytics or email services) may be located outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients handle it in a manner consistent with the APPs, including via contractual protections.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law. Enquiry records are typically retained for up to 24 months. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe.

Under the APPs and Privacy Act 1988 you may:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you (APP 12).
  • Correct inaccurate or out-of-date information (APP 13).
  • Opt out of direct marketing at any time.
  • Withdraw consent to processing (without affecting past processing).
  • Complain to us or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
